Ephemeral art

30cm x 30cm

Curled bark strips arranged in my front garden.

How does your work engage with the theme ‘The World at Home’?

Made during COVID lockdown, a time of isolation. when our thoughts turned inwards focusing on and noticing the smaller details of our surroundings at home. Noticing how after rain, tree limbs expand, splitting and shedding protective outer layers to reveal a new skin. The split ends of the bark curling and caressing the new skin. This skin we can touch without any fear, whilst we learn to keep our distance from human touch.
