Balance in our lives. My husband was diagnosed with end stage cancer in February. Should we travel overseas or stay at home with our family? In April, along came COVID 19. Talk about keeping the balance! The name is relevant for us, and now for the whole world.

How does your work engage with the theme ‘The World at Home’?

I am a self taught artist in my 75th year. My husband and I are both active and love to travel every year to Europe where I sculpt in marble and bronze over a three month residency, usually in May, June and July. We were not able to travel this year due to health issues and the COVID 19 Australian borders closure. We were both saddened, but decided to use the difficulty to produce a sculpture together in my studio on the Surf Coast. I have everything I need here really, apart from a professional welder to make my armature. However, we fired up the welder and amazingly we made the armature ourselves, learning as we went. How nice it was to be working on a project with my husband helping me, right here at home in 2020.
